Wondering if a nicely done video documentary
presenting "A Tribute to Joyce Riley's Power
Hour" would be fitting.
If God has in mind to eventually get the Conaway
show renamed, maybe such a video might help?
I'm thinking of a first class job, a full hour or
more, with interviews from people associated
with the real Power Hour over the past two
decades.
There's a serious problem with doing that,
though. So many of the key figures - Ted
Anderson, Dave vonKleist, Erin Dakins, Marie
Gunther and I believe other former associates
of Joyce have thrown their allegiance to the
Conaway show. Those folks know the details
necessary for such a project.
Still, something to ponder?
Is there anyone associated with Joyce's
legacy Power Hour who knows enough of the
historical details to make that possible?
Daniel is a relative newcomer, but we have
Kathryn Russell and Jaye at the Power Mall
who go back a ways. We don't know where
Josh stands. Josh and his wife were certainly
very close to Joyce. I have an inquiry out
attempting to contact Josh.
There are no doubt quite a few of Joyce's
associates around, and some of the former
guests would be in favour of this project
and willing to be interviewed.
A volunteer with professional video editing
skills would be needed.
A volunteer to act as "executive producer"
would be needed to handle correspondence
and coordinate the efforts of volunteers
and those appearing on camera.
This would take some time - a year maybe,
but a good end product would go a long way
towards properly honouring Joyce's life and
work.
Personally, I would want to give Daniel and
Kathryn editorial authority.
I would also recommend not saying anything
negative about Ted, and in fact, maybe
mention "GCN" but leaving Ted's name out of
the video completely. It's about Joyce, not
Ted.
Thoughts welcome.
